Highly Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse Prescriber and Practitioner. 37.5 Hours per Week - Permanent Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse Prescriber and Practitioner to join the Neuroidevelopmental Team at City and Hackney Specialist CAMHS.

The post holder will:

  • Conduct comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessments, for young people with mild learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and/or ADHD.
  • Deliver evidence-based behavioural management interventions as part of integrated care packages for children, young people, and their families/carers.
  • Prescribe and monitor medication safely, in accordance with local and national guidelines, in collaboration with a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.
  • Clearly and sensitively communicate the purpose, side effects, and considerations of prescribed medications to young people and their families/carers.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of psychotropic medications, including their effects, side effects, and contraindications, in line with independent and supplementary prescriber training and relevant legislation.
  • Stay informed of emerging evidence and best practices in prescribing.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will become part of a large and experienced multi-disciplinary team providing diagnostic assessments and mental health interventions for children, young people, and families affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.
