Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant

Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the established Occupational Therapy team in Older Adults Mental Health Service. This service supports people with sever and enduring mental health conditions in Towerhamlets.

We are looking for someone who understands mental health, can work with individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions, and is skilled in Occupational Therapy. The post holder will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy intervention under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist on the ward / community.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the occupational therapist to promote and facilitate the OT programme both on the ward and community through 1:1 intervention, group work, and enabling clients in accessing relevant local community resources which would support their discharge. You will also work closely with a well-established multi-disciplinary team on the ward

To work alongside qualified OT staff to jointly co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the Occupational Therapy service and provide a robust, high quality delivery of the clinical service on Older Adult acute inpatient wards and community mental health team.

  • oNVQ level Two to Three in Care or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • G.C.S.E.
  • Qualification in relevant practical skills.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work with older people/people with mental health problems
  • Craft/creative/practical skills in at least one area e.g. gardening, cookery, pottery
