We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant with knowledge and experience in the field paediatrics, to be part of our team supporting children and young people from 0-18 years.
Main duties of the job
Band 4 - Occupational Therapy Assistant - Full Time

Our team works with children with a range of conditions that impact on their ability to participate in activities of daily living.
We are based in West Ham Lane Health Centre and work in a variety of settings such as clinics, homes, nurseries, Children's Centres and education settings.
Within the Specialist Children and Young Peoples' Service (SCYPS), the OTs form an integral part of a multidisciplinary therapies team who work closely with Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians, Paediatricians and Specialist Nurses. Together our mission is to make positive differences to peoples' lives by delivering high quality services for the children and families of Newham.
We are a warm, welcoming and supportive team of OTs and OTAs bringing life experiences from across the world. We re-group monthly for whole team meetings and enjoy four off-site team away days per year where we aim to recap, review, unwind and team-bond. You will have your own monthly supervision with an experienced Band 5 OT, you will be supported to work towards annual appraisal targets and update your CPD portfolio with opportunities to be involved in Service Improvement, Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement.

Essential
- GCSE or Equivalent - English & Maths training or be able to demonstrate the same
- Good typing and computer skills including a knowledge and use of Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft word, power point.
- Experience of working previously as an Occupational Therapy Assistant Band 3 in a health care setting with children and young people.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Services for children.
- Experience of working in a busy team environment where team work is essential.

- Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of professionals as a member of a multidisciplinary team e.g.: other health professionals, education staff, Social Services and other statutory and voluntary organisations.

- Ability to sustain concentration and maintain a pro-active role during the assessment and treatment of children
- Ability to use manual handling skills e.g. when positioning or transferring children in preparation for treatment
- Ability to carry out therapeutic interventions including gross and fine motor activities using manual dexterity skills and physical stamina
