We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and motivated specialty doctor in psychiatry.
This is a rare opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary mental health team in Tower Hamlets.This job is for a Speciality Doctor in the Tower Hamlets Perinatal Mental Health Team working in the community, based at Mile End Hospital. The service base is very central to the borough with good bus and tube connections. The post holder will be working with consultant psychiatrists Dr Caroline Cleeve and Dr Nikolina Jovanovic.
The Tower Hamlets Perinatal Mental Health Team is a specialist service for women who are pregnant or have a baby up to the age of one year old with moderate to severe mental illness.
Main duties of the job
ELFT is a teaching Trust, rated Outstanding by the CQC which provide Mental health and Community Service across East London and Bedfordshire.
The post-holder will gain experience in assessment and treatment ofwomenin Tower Hamlets experiencing moderate to severe mental disorders during the perinatal period (fromconceptionto 12 months postpartum). The team have expertise in the prevention, assessment and management of mental disorders newly occurring or co-existing with pregnancy or the postpartum period, including the assessment and facilitation of the mother-infant relationship in the context of maternal mental illness. They also providepreconception counselling appointmentsto high risk women and advise patients and professionals on the use of psychiatric medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding so the postholder will gain expertise on prescribing during the perinatal period
