You will develop skills through an early year's caseload and within Specialist Resource Provision schools in Newham.

The post-holder will manage their own caseload and receive support from band 6 and band 7 therapists. There will be the opportunity to develop your skills in the areas of AAC and dysphagia.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a high quality speech and language therapy (SLT) service to children and young people (CYP) referred to the complex needs and dysphagia team in a range of settings including clinics/health centres and schools.

The post holder will assess and diagnose speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), contribute to multi-professional assessment for those with complex communication needs and disabilities and plan and implement programmes of support and intervention.

As well as a role in providing specialist intervention for CYP, the post holder will contribute to raising awareness of SLCN and training of the wider workforce to enable partner agencies to effectively support all CYP with SLCN.

Once the post holder has built up sufficient experience in the role they will be expected to contribute to SLT student placements and support assistants and volunteers.

The post holder will access a comprehensive and on-going CPD programme and receive robust clinical supervision to support them to deliver a high quality service to the CYP of Newham
