Job summary

An exciting opportunity to co-lead and further develop a Coffee Shop & Catering project has arisen within the Forensic Service's Occupational Therapy department's Therapeutic Employment team.The OASIS Coffee Shop & Catering project sits within theNuLeaf Service User Employment projects at the John Howard Centre, which also includes a Painting & Decorating project, Landscaping & Therapeutic Horticulture, Admin and the Barber Shop / Hair Salon.

The Therapeutic Employment projects are run as social enterprise businesses, with a focus on supporting service users' recovery, resilience building, and the maintenance and acquisition of task specific and soft employment skills.

This is a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant rolewithin a close knit team. The aim is to increase training and employment opportunities for forensic service users by providing opportunities to utilize their existing skills or facilitate the development of a new skill set to successfully work in the hospitality and catering industry.

You will find it a varied and stimulating environment,working with service users from across the John Howard Centre, including the Learning Disability and Autism services.You will receive relevant training,monthly supervision and have access to the OT departments CPD programme. The working hours are Monday - Friday 09.00-17.15h.

Main duties of the job

To co-manage the Oasis Coffee Shop, an innovative social enterprise, which is a training centre for service users within a medium secure hospital. The focus is the mentoring and training of service users to enable them to run the hospitals Coffee Shop, and increase their skill sets, confidence and post discharge employability. A significant part of the role is to further develop the hospitality side of the Coffee Shop. The successful candidate will also share responsible for administrative tasks associated with the running of the business, purchasing of stock, managing deliveries, and monitoring of prices to ensure sustainability of the project. Daily duties involve both front and back of house work to support service users as needed.

This is a full time hands - on role within a small specialist team. Clinical support and relevant training will be provided
