Job summary
There are two fixed-term posts for a Clinical Fellow in Community Paediatrics with East London NHS Foundation Trust within the Specialist Children & Young People's Services (SCYPS) in Newham, East London. This post would be suitable for an Out-of-programme Paediatric trainee, post-CCT Paediatric trainee or SAS Doctor looking to expand one's portfolio to gain more clinical experience in Community Paediatrics. The Job plan can be focused to provide experience in Safeguarding, Child Protection, and children in care or motor disorders and complex neuro-disability. The post is for 6 months (extendable to 12 months). The post is full time for a maximum of 10 programmed activities, and we would also welcome applicants wishing to work less than full time. There are no on-call commitments in acute paediatrics in this post. The post will be based at West Ham Lane Health Centre, 84 West Ham Lane, Stratford, E15 4PT.
Main duties of the job
- Diagnostic assessments:
- To participate in the Child Protection rota for triaging referrals and undertaking Child Protection medical assessments. There will also be the opportunity to observe in clinics in the NEL CSA Hub at the Royal London Hospital.
- To undertake Health Assessments for Looked After Children and Young People.
- To undertake integrated clinics with CAMHS for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.
- To participate in Child protection conferences and Looked After Children Review Meetings with colleagues in the multi-agency team in Newham
- Teaching:
- To contribute to departmental teaching
- To contribute to teaching of students particularly in relation to community child health services
- Audit, Quality Improvement and Service Improvement:
- To engage in departmental projects and initiatives to improve services, clinical practice and protocols in areas related to Safeguarding and Looked After Children.
- Management: To participate in management roles within the team, for example teaching coordination, chairing of team meetings, rota coordination.
- Other Clinical Opportunities:
- To undertake Child Development clinics in the clinical assessment pathways for children and young people referred to the Service with a range of developmental needs, including neurodevelopmental and neurodisability conditions.
- To undertake Medical advisory clinics for children and young people requiring Education Health Care Plans.
