This job is now closed
Job summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated HCPC - registered clinical/counselling Psychologist or BAPCP-registered CBT Therapist, with experience in delivering CBT for Psychosis, to work within the Tower Hamlets Early Intervention (THEIS) and Tower Hamlets Early Detection (THEDS) services. THEIS is an early intervention in psychosis service for adults aged 18-65 years old from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, experiencing first onset in psychosis. We provide a range of psychosocial interventions working within the care programme approach framework in collaboration with service users, carers and other relevant agencies. The interventions are offered in individual, group and family contexts, and commonly require an assertive outreach approach. THEDS is for service users aged 17 - 30 at high risk of developing psychosis. The psychology team works flexibly across THEIS and THEDS, and across community and inpatient settings. Early intervention for psychosis services aim to reduce the prevalence and impact of schizophrenia by reducing the duration of untreated psychosis and engaging clients in training and work as well as offering support and psychological interventions. This means working with service users and carers, their families and the wider community to help them lead purposeful lives among people who accept them, breaking down the barriers of stigma that often accompany mental health problems and lead to social isolation.

The purpose of the psychologist/ CBT Therapist role is to:

Work across both community and inpatient settings, providing psychological input to THEIS service users on inpatient wards
The post holders will be required to the work closely with the THEIS Operational lead, Principal Psychologist and Clinical Leads across the teams. You will need to be self-motivated, clinically up to date with advances in the field, with proven experience of undertaking assessments and interventions in secondary care settings.
You must be keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough, have experience of working with people with complex mental health difficulties and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, as well as working in partnership with staff teams, experts by experience, and community organisations.
We aim to develop and deliver our services through co-production with people with lived experience. We would expect you to be fully committed to partnership working and co-production.
