Job summary

Tower Hamlets has an exciting opportunity for an experienced peer support professional to join the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood Mental Health Team! We're looking for candidates who have a strong interest in peer support, who are caring and empathetic, and have leadership qualities to develop peer support in this new role.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop a peer support offer in the Isle of Dogs NMHT, with direction from the Operational Lead and Borough Lead.
  • Provide support to junior PSW's, through induction, team integration, and supervision.
  • Be a caring and an empathetic person, be genuine, and be open to other people and their differences.
  • Be passionate about peer support, have strong knowledge of the profession and have experience with a range of clients in a mental health setting.

Essential

  • o ELFT Accredited Peer Support Worker Training or to complete within six months in post.

Experience

Essential

  • o Significant experience of working as a Peer Support Worker in a relevant setting.
  • o Own personal lived experience of mental health

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • oA sound knowledge of good practice in peer support
  • o Demonstrate knowledge of personal recovery and a broad understanding of the principles of recovery.
  • o Evidence of good interpersonal skills and an ability to form peer relationships with service users and carers.
  • o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable

  • o Awareness of local services.
  • o Ability to speak other languages.
