Job summary

The Head of Learning & Leadership Development will be at heart of the delivery of the Trust's People Plan and Learning Strategy.

They will lead a small team to deliver a range of elective learning programmes, some of which will be commissioned from external suppliers, but most will be designed and delivered by them and their team.

This will include delivery of elements of ELFT's Leadership & Culture work through facilitation of in-person and virtual leadership and management training.

In addition they will be responsible for delivery of other development activities, including Trust Induction, Appraisal, and Supervision Training .

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will

Deliver and facilitate internal learning programmes, conference and events both face to face and virtually in support of rolling out the trusts training plan

Create a robust and cost-effective training plan and programme that delivers an innovative and current offer capturing the learning needs across the different professional staff groups, ensuring equitable access to non-mandatory development and learning, including leadership and management development.

Oversee and manage non medical funding working in conjunction with the senior HR leadership team to ensure equity of allocation and good governance reporting to Health Education (England).

Provide line management to the L&D team in line with the Trust's values that is respected and valued by the Trust's services and directorates.

Work with stakeholders across the trust and the wider system to understand the demand signals and when appropriate design robust outcomes focused learning to meet the need.

Lead in collaboration on the design, delivery and evaluation of the Trusts Leadership and Culture programme, embedding the behaviours and principles across all the Team's outputs where appropriate.

Lead and support the delivery of Development processes such as Appraisal and Supervision

About us

The People Development Team is responsible for the delivery of learning activities, processes and systems across the trust.

This includes Leadership development, continuous professional development, apprenticeships, statutory & mandatory training, appraisal, supervision and the LMS

  • Coaching Qualification

Desirable

  • Qualified on psychometric instruments for assessment and development e.g., MBTI, HLM 360

Professional Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of delivering and facilitating leadership development programmes to staff across all.
  • Leading and managing individuals and teams effectively, and developing capability, confidence, and competence within them
  • Experience in developing and delivering leadership and management training programmes, tools, and techniques
  • Experience and Understanding of NHSE/HEE CPD Funding, and management and governance of commissioned learning
  • Experience of Coaching individuals to support personal development
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering leadership and management development programmes, tools, and techniques to staff at all levels - including senior leaders

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Confident facilitation and presentation skills, both online and face to face
  • Team management and leadership skills and experience
  • Influential, a relationship builder who can negotiate with and influence service managers and professional leads in relation to the Trust's learning and development agenda and on wider workforce development issues.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation, analytical and planning skills with a high attention to detail and process
