Community Mental Health Nurse - CIMHS North
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse to join the Community Integrated Mental Health Service in Newham - North.
The service aims to provide care to the service users of Newham, working in partnership with the Primary Care Network (PCN) structure in Newham and third sector provision.
The service offer a flexible and accessible approach to working with service users to achieve their goals towards recovery. The role will involve working collaboratively with PCN colleagues as well as a MDT consisting of Psychiatrists, Nurses, OT's, Community Connectors, Peer Support Workers, Clinical Associate Psychologist and many more. Working with a large MDT provides a platform for peer learning and professional development.
Main duties of the job
The team provides a person centered approach, aimed at connecting individuals to their communities, reducing social isolation, social exclusion and stigma, promoting and enabling the independence of people with mental health support needs and improvement in their quality of life. The team demonstrates this through form and function, the triple integration critical to the overall population health approach we aspire to - a seamless physical health and mental health, VCSE/Local Authority/Health and primary care/secondary care offer.

Education/ Qualification/ Training
Essential
- Recognised mental health qualification in nursing.
- Current Professional Registration
- Evidence of continual professional development and revalidation of practice.
Experience
Essential
- Experience as a community psychiatric nurse.
- Experience in working with diverse agencies in a complex environment
- At least one year's experience of working as a Community Mental Health Nurse in a community setting
- At least three year's experience of working as a RMN in a mental health setting.
- Experience of completing full psycho-social assessments and writing reports.
Desirable
- Previous experience of acting as a Primary Care Link Worker.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing about a range of complex issues
- Ability to provide structured and focused consultation to GPs
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and to work proactively under supervision
- Ability to use current IT systems for data entry and analysis
- Ability to assess people who may have serious mental health problems and to advise other colleagues on treatment options.
- To engage with people with serious mental health problems in a holistic manner. To assess their needs, design and deliver appropriate interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of the process.
