Job summary

This is a community-based post will be part of the broader and expanding CAMHS School Pathway Integrated Service, with the broader service offering an early intervention service to schools across the whole locality. This post is designed specifically to work alongside, and support the mental health needs of children and young people who CAMHs professionals struggle to engage with, due to significant conduct related difficulties such as exclusion from mainstream schooling, anti-social and/or offending behaviour and conduct disorder. The service will be delivered through Special schools and mainstream schools within South Central Bedfordshire. The post-holder will provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and individual and group therapeutic interventions using models such as NVR and multi-family groups, as well as staff training and consultation.

This post will sit within our Schools Pathway team and within the broad-based CAMH Access Services (CAS), who provide early intervention and community based support through schools, GP practices and Early Help services. The post holder will be working with our community partners and will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings supporting multiple Schools across South Central Bedfordshire.

Main duties of the job

Weare lookingfor a dynamic andorganised Practitionerto join our friendly and multi-disciplinary professional team. The post-holder will be offeringcomprehensive assessment and treatment to a wide variety of presentations. The post-holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy, self-management and drive with the ability to work well in a team and within the multi-agency environment.?To support you in this role, you will receiveregular, separate clinical and management supervision sessions, access to a variety of CPD sessions, and annual performance appraisals.The work of the teamis managed and supervised by the Schools Pathway Team Operational Lead which is strongly supported by our experienced CAS Clinical Lead and Lead for Psychological Therapies whom is involved in all aspects of professional and service development. ?The Senior Management Team within Bedfordshire & Luton CAMHS is committed to staff development: there are regular opportunities for staff to apply for appropriate training courses, including IAPT, and to get involved in quality improvement initiatives and new developments in the service. The East London NHS Trust prioritizes staff wellbeing and we are introducing a range of staff wellbeing initiatives to support this.

About us

?This post is based in Dunstable, close to the M1 and easily reached by car from North London, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire. The clinic also has the added benefit of free parking and all clinicians are supported by very dedicated and efficient administrative staff. The team is based at Beech Close in Dunstable although the post-holder would need to be able to attend meetings as required in the community so a car user is essential for this role.

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential

  • A qualification in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical/ Counselling/Educational Psychology, Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Nursing & Registration Please do not apply for this role if you do not have one of the qualifications listed above Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology
  • Postgraduate Doctorate (or equivalent) in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to Doctorate program introduced)
  • HCPC registered
  • Family Therapy Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Nursing or Counselling
  • Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy or AFT agreed equivalent
  • UKCP Registered
  • Child Psychotherapy Honours degree. Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Psychoanalytical Observational Studies or recognised equivalent. Masters in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy: Child and Adolescent.
