We are looking to recruit a Deputy Lead for Psychology and Psychological Therapies Services in Tower Hamlets to enhance the psychologically informed ways of working within the Borough.
If you are interested in this role and have experience of working with people with severe mental health problems and are committed to addressing inequalities we would like to meet you.
This is a role which would be expected to complement the post holder's clinical interest and provide an opportunity to develop leadership skills for someone interested in senior roles within the NHS.

Main duties of the job
Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist & Deputy Psychological Leadr will primarily support the Consultant Psychological Lead in the provision, planning and development of evidence-based psychological therapies for people with complex, severe and enduring mental health needs.
They will deputise for the Consultant Psychological Lead where appropriate.
Tower Hamlets Adult Mental Health Psychology cover adult services in the borough and working as one of the first community MH transformation sites. We are a dynamic Borough working with the communities we serve to provide the best services we can in partnership with service users and other services in East London.
Due to significant changes to services currently taking place as part of the transformation programme in adult mental health, there are exciting opportunities to contribute to the design and delivery of new models ofpsychologicalworking.

Essential
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and able to demonstrate eligibility for BPS Chartered Psychologist status
- HCPC registration
- Training for supervising doctoral clinical /counselling psychology trainees.
Experience
Essential
- Substantial experience of working as a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist including substantial post-qualification experience within an acute/severe mental health setting. Experience of working with people with severe, complex and chronic mental health problems.
- Research experience
- Experience of developing services to meet needs Experience of managing teams, including knowledge of NHS people management processes.
- Experience of teaching, training and supervising professional and clinical practise of qualified and unqualified staff.

- Able to draw upon a broad theoretical knowledge base in the analysis of highly complex facts or situations to arrive at appropriate formulations. Able to compare and select from a range of treatment options, based on formulation.
- Able to plan, organise and prioritise own workload. Physical skills: Keyboard skills.
- Highly developed knowledge of modern NHS mental health services, relevant policy and strategy agendas driving these services.
