Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic physical health and lifestyle recovery practitioner with experience of working in a mental health setting to join our team. We are a well-established Early Intervention in psychosis service and cover the county of Bedfordshire (including Luton). Our service functions across community settings and we are seeking candidates to facilitate physical health screening in the community as well as participating in developing health and wellbeing programmes and projects for our service users - this will also include virtual groups/projects. The role will require close liaison with our multi-disciplinary team.

The role will primarily be based in the South of Bedfordshire (Luton, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard), but at times will be required to cover the north of the county (Bedford and Central Bedfordshire areas).

The successful post holders will be supported with induction and training packages and will receive supervision within the team. Regional and local training programmes are available to ensure continued professional development and learning. The successful candidate will join a creative and motivated team who continue to make positive differences to families and individuals across the county. We believe that psychosis is treatable and recovery is expected.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for

  • Carrying out structured clinical observations of physical health and wellbeing and ensuring the electronic data is recorded correctly.
  • Liaising closely and communicating effectively with all the care coordinators on issues relating to their caseloads as required.
  • Highlighting to the medical staff the results of clinical tests for scrutiny.
  • Continually delivering and maintaining high standards for a caseload as agreed with Line Manager/Clinical Supervisor
  • Ensuring national targets and standards are achieved
  • Building trust and developing relationships to ensure service user involvement
  • Demonstrating a professional manner in all work carried out
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records
  • Ensuring equality and diversity values underpin the day to day working of the practice area.
  • Participating in continuous professional development
