Job summary
Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), arriving in the UK, have significant mental and physical health needs - many of which remain unmet by currently available services. To address this, an 'integrated pathway' for UASC was set up in Newham. We are now looking for enthusiastic and dynamic team members to work on a new pilot project across North East London to develop this integrated pathway.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post-holder will be to conduct high quality research, working closely with patients (UASC), clinicians, NHS managers, members of the academic communities across different locations, other researchers and other research sites, and other stakeholders.
The post-holder will also be responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting research participants through the research process. He or she will lead on securing the necessary ethical approvals and will support the Chief Investigator to oversee the research governance of the project.
Additionally, the post-holder will be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on research data. The post-holder will undertake mainly qualitative data collection among patients, clinicians and senior NHS managers (e.g. focus group discussions and individual interviews) to assess the feasibility/acceptability of the new pathway using key implementation science frameworks. He/she will lead in the analysis and write up of results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, the postholder will lead on patient and public involvement activities with UASC.
