Job summary

We are seeking highly motivated and organised Assistant Psychologists to support the work of our Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists in our CMHTs in Bedfordshire and Luton. The posts are based in either Bedford or Luton. The role will be critical to supporting the provision of psychological therapies within the teams and of community-based psychoeducational and skills groups. There are Quality Improvement (QI) projects running in the teams and involvement in these projects as a member of the QI project team is integral to the role.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of supporting and facilitating groups under supervision. They will also have a strong academic record with excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent IT literacy skills and skills in data collection and evaluation. We are also looking for people who are able to engage positively and sensitively with people with mental health difficulties and their support networks. The ability to work collaboratively with other professions is a central part of the post in order to provide holistic care within a biopsychosocial model.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of psychological assessments, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources (including psychological tests, measures/rating scales including Recovery measures and Quality of Life measures, direct and indirect observation and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and involved others.)
To contribute to plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of mental health problems across a range of care settings

All clinical duties will be carried out under the supervision and direction of a qualified Psychological Therapist. The Assistant Psychological Therapist has a responsibility to perform all tasks within the spirit and the policies of the East London NHS Foundation Trust
