Job summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Sports Therapist) Apprentice to join the Occupational Therapy Service in Tower Hamlets, on a fixed term basis. The apprenticeship standard to be undertaken will be Sports Therapy, Level 3. The stream undertaken will be Adult Mental Health or Allied Health Professional, and will be decided based on the candidates experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will focus on forming therapeutic, meaningful relationships with patients, they will use a range of interventions/activities to enhance their care and improve their experience, More specifically the role will entail the following:

Under the supervision of the Sports Lead provide to devise and or co-facilitate physical exercise sessions both one to one and group based interventions in both hospital and community settings, under the guidance of the Lead Sports Therapist; this may include walking groups; exercise groups etc.

Under the supervision of the Sports Lead T provide individual/group assessment and activity within the inpatient Gym supporting service users in sports, health and fitness related activity.

To provide these exercise programmes and gym sessions in a manner which is safe, effective, inclusive and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

Under the supervision of the Sports Therapy Lead regularly review and modify specialist treatment exercise and Gym programmes in response to the needs of the patients.

To ensure the safety of service users whilst they engage in physical exercise programmes and use the IP Gym at all times, following all relevant guidelines, regulations, and procedures.
