Job summary
We are excited to announce an opportunity to help shape and support a novel role for pharmacy technicians within community mental health care. This role has been developed as part of East London Foundation NHS Trusts ambitious Community Transformation Programme, developed to redesign and improve the way mental health care services are delivered for our population.
Main duties of the job
You'll be embedded within newly formed Community Integrated Mental Health Services (CIMHS) across the borough working to support service users in new models of care, supporting medicines optimisation and safety in Newham. This will involve supporting colleagues and service users with medicines management, medicines consultations, provision of psychotropic medicines information, safe transfer of care, management of medicines shortages and supporting our ADHD clinic. The post-holder will support in scoping and mapping mental health pharmacy technician roles and responsibilities in new and emerging areas, and lead on projects to improve care for our service users. The post-holder will deliver education and training for primary care colleagues to increase knowledge and confidence around management of psychotropic medications, especially depot antipsychotics.
We are looking for an experienced mental health pharmacy technician with a passion for improving access to, and quality of mental health care in the community setting, who can display innovation and bring ideas to extend the boundaries of the pharmacy profession.
