Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed pharmacist to join our mental health pharmacy team. The right candidate will be someone keen to learn in the exciting environment of a hospital pharmacy and wanting to forge their career in the specialty of mental health. You will need to be passionate about supporting patients and their families through their recovery process and about managing medicines with your multidisciplinary team.

The East London areas served by the Trust are the most culturally diverse and deprived areas in England and therefore provide significant challenges for the provision of mental health services. The pharmacy department in Tower Hamlets provides a service to the Mile End Hospital for Mental Health and community mental health teams.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a progressive and developing team and your core duties will be:

  • To deliver a comprehensive medicines management service to East London Foundation NHS Trust (ELFT) patients and the multidisciplinary treatment team responsible for their care.
  • To provide input into policy and procedures affecting the use of pharmaceuticals at both local and trust wide levels under the direction of the Clinical Lead/Lead Pharmacist.
  • To liaise with other pharmacy staff to support an effective dispensing and supply service.
  • To deputise for the Clinical Lead/Lead Pharmacist in his or her absence.
  • To provide a single accessible point of contact for the Home Treatment Team (HTT). They will be involved in conducting home visits and phone calls to manage patients with crisis in the community during their HTT rotation

Education/ Qualification / Training

Essential

  • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • Pre-registration training
  • Post registration training relevant to hospital pharmacy
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and/or Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Post graduate certificate in Clinical Pharmacy

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate medicine related information to mental health patients, carers and clinical staff
  • Previous evaluated experience of mentorship and training skills
  • To have undertaken clinical audit
  • Training and education

  • The ability to identify and prioritise clinical workload
