CAMHS Practitioner - Schools CAMH Access Service, Band 6 - 0.8 WTE Permanent

The CAMH Schools Community Access Service (SCAS) is a relatively new team that already has strong ethos of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. The SCAS is part of a Community Access Team which also comprises of an Early Help CAMHS worker. The SCAS team also works alongside two MHST (Mental Health Schools Team) with a further team starting in September 2023 working with schools across Central Bedfordshire. There is a specific and comprehensive focus on developing more access to early help and improving the general culture of emotional support within schools across Central Bedfordshire. Working alongside community partners the SCAS, along with the other teams within the integrated schools pathway, namely, the Mental Health Support Teams, will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be joining SCAS as a CAMHS practitioner. The team will be focusing on promoting well-being in communities in Central Bedfordshire, by improving their resilience, using a co-productive and relational approach to mental health. Working alongside community partners and other stakeholders, including citizen stakeholders, the SCAS will be fully integrated with their locality specialist community CAMHS in a stepped model of care, and the educational settings they work with.

About us

You will have access to clinical supervision and line management and there are regular opportunities for staff to apply for appropiate internal and external training courses. The Trust is committed to staff wellbeing and there are many initiatives to support this

You will be required to be flexible, and be a car user as you will be required to travel across South Central; Bedfordshire to deliver training and attend meetings. The post is embedded across schools, and you will have an attached base in Dunstable CAMHS, and be part of the Targeted Services multi-disciplinary team. Dunstable is close to the M1 and is easily accesible by car (there is also free parking)from North London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

You will need a relevant professional qualification, with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. You will need experience in working with children and families, preferably in a school setting. You will need to be able to operate confidently in an environment where IT is the main method of record keeping, communication and program management.
