Job summary

The Adolescent Mental Health Team in Newham CAMHS are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The AMHT is a small and cohesive team consisting of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy and administrative staff who are committed to developing innovative and effective ways of working. This is an interesting, and varied job routinely involving joint working with other members of the team to assess and treat young people and their families with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. There is a high level of support within the team and from the Consultant Psychiatrist who will be the post-holder's clinical supervisor.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high quality evidence based mental health assessments and treatments within the AMHT model of care coordination. This will include professional and practice development to ensure high quality client-centred care. Newham CFCS is a large multi-disciplinary CAMH service (approx. 38 wte clinical staff) with several specialist teams. There will be a requirement to participate in the duty rotas (within office hours). This post may be of particular interest to applicants wishing to pursue specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry in the future. This is a substantive post and in line with service developments there may be adjustments made to the job plan to include clinical work from other teams within CFCS providing a mixture of caseload.
