Job summary
As the Youth Clinical Lead you will be forefront in the development of the Early Intervention in psychosis (EI) provision for service users aged between 14 and 25 years, supporting and supervising the delivery of an age appropriate service.
You will work with colleagues in Children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHs) and EI where shared care exists or where transition to adult services is required in order to optimise the experience of young people and their families.
Key to the role will be forging strong links with youth focused services to maximise the opportunities available to young people experiencing psychosis and to promote awareness of psychosis and high risk mental states.
You will also undertake a management role for the team on a day to day basis and across county as required. This will be in support of the on-going development of the multi-professional countywide Early Intervention commissioned service. The post holder will be expected to manage a group of staff, with the aim of providing a high quality service to meet the needs of people experiencing a first episode of psychosis, and their carers. In addition you will hold a small caseload of service users.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support all aspects of high quality service design, delivery & improvement both local and national standards appropriate to the health and social care setting. The post holder will provide specialist advice to Adult Mental Health Services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) on local and national developments within Early Intervention in Psychosis.

If an Occupational Therapist applies for this position they will have a split role of the CYP worker for the North team and OT for the EIS countywide service covering the county of Bedfordshire. OT responsibilities include:
To manage your diary to balance both of your roles in accordance to service requirements and demand.
To provide OT consultation opportunities for EI care Coordinator professionals.
To utilise specialist OT assessments when required to assist in the care planning process for EI cases.
To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with clients and their Carers.
To provide written and verbal reports as required at any stage in the treatment process in line with Occupational Therapy Clinical Governance Standards.
To identify clinical service needs and initiate projects, which could be developed in order to meet challenges.
To promote the roles and skills of Occupational Therapy to other professionals, students, clients and Carers.
Initiating planning and facilitating of group work, working alongside other professional and support worker colleagues.
To collate and provide data in accordance to OT service protocols.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Registered with a professional clinical, social work body (e.g. HCPC/NMC)
- Evidence of continued professional development in Psychosocial Interventions.
