Job summary
This is an opportunity to join a newly created inpatient team Mobile ONE as locum consultant. The team has been set up as a pilot for six months with the possibility of extending depending on the success of the project. Mobile ONE is a team that works with a caseload of approximately 15 inpatients, caring for service users that have been admitted to the Newham Centre for Mental Health but are not Newham residents, or are of no fixed abode, or under the early intervention service. The team has been set up to provide high quality responsive care to this specific group of service users with the aim of promoting recovery and where appropriate reducing length of stay.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills and experience in service development and evaluation. Excellent communication skills and an ability to interface with a range of services and organisations are essential.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties of the post holder include :
To take the overall clinical psychiatric responsibility for patients under their care and to review patients regularly together with the multi-disciplinary team.
To provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and medical management of patients, by delivering the following interventions:
- Initial clinical goals and treatment setting, taking into account patients' capabilities, strengths and resilience
- Mental state examination
- Clinical diagnosis

- Fully registered with the General Medical Council
- On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of eligibility to apply.
- Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983 and Approved Clinician status , or eligible to apply once in post
Desirable
- Higher training in approved training posts for minimum of 3 years and / or previous consultant training.
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
- CCT in general adult psychiatry.
