This an exciting opportunity to join the consultant body of City & Hackney Mental Health Services. There is one full-time substantive post on one of our female inpatient wards. This role has come about as the previous post-holder retired.
The appointee will have clinical responsibility for the care of acute female inpatients who live in the City of London & South part of Hackney, and are admitted to Connolly Ward.
The City & Hackney consultant psychiatrists' group is known to be supportive and inclusive, and ELFT is recognised for its emphasis on clinical leadership, patient-centred approach and service-user involvement.
Main duties of the job
The consultant psychiatrist provides input and clinical leadership to Connolly ward, one of the two female acute inpatient mental health wards in City & Hackney. They have an overseeing and supervision role (including to junior doctors) for clinical cases admitted on the ward. The focus is on consultant level assessment of any new admissions that have taken place, actively supporting an effective interface between the ward, HTT and the community teams to facilitate safe early discharges from the inpatient unit, actively engaging with the relevant community teams, providing clinical leadership for the MDT on the ward, leading ward and management rounds and undertaking relevant reviews of inpatients, supporting the bed management processes and maintaining high quality care for the patients on the ward.
