Job summary

East London Foundation Trust is looking for a registered Physiotherapist with three years of post registration experience working with Adults with Learning Disabilities, to join their Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (NHLD). This position is Clinical Lead Highly Specialist Physiotherapist for the team, so is ideal for someone who is looking to combine their LD clinical experience with skills in leadership. This is a full time role, based in Stratford, London close to tube, rail and DLR stations.

Main duties of the job

You will lead an established Physiotherapy team including a Senior Physiotherapist and a Physiotherapy assistant. You will be working with a multi disciplinary team of Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists/Behaviours specialists and Psychiatrists. As the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist you will be part of the team's senior leadership group involved in clinical governance and service development. The Physiotherapy service within NHLD has been well established for many years and offers effective services, embracing innovative practice primarily for individuals with Severe and Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities, in different settings. You will be working in varied community settings such as individual's home, therapy centres, educational settings, Hydrotherapy pools and other community facilities.

You will have knowledge and understanding of working with complex neurological conditions and people with long term conditions. Experience of working with people who have learning disability, previous involvement in service development and leadership, and a sound understanding of the legal frameworks relevant to LD is essential. You will be expected to hold an independent caseload, be autonomous in doing assessment and execute treatment programs independently and provide support for the rest of the Physiotherapy team. You will have supervision and support from Deputy Team Manager and Clinical Service Manager.

Essential
