Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential

• Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession including: Family & Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health or LD) / Social Worker
• Appropriate level of qualification for your profession e.g. BSc, Masters or Doctorate
• Registration with your appropriate body (e.g. UKCP, NMC, HCP etc.)
• Evidence of continuous and relevant professional training and development (CPD) in keeping with qualification period.

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of working in CAMHS(FDT and E&B)
• Experience of working with a wide range of CAMHS problems
• Experience of working with families, school and other partner organisation to support young people who may be displaying behaviours that challenge.
• Experience of delivering evidence based Parent groups and specialist groups.
• Experience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisis.
• Knowledge and experience with working with Child Protection issues and serious mental health problems, including challenging behaviour
• Experience of risk assessment and risk management
• Experience in working in a complex multi-disciplinary context
• Experience, skills and flexibility to contribute to and facilitate effective working within a multi-disciplinary team setting
• Experience of care planning
• Experience of working in a culturally diverse Inner city area

Desirable

• Experience of developing and delivering specialist training programmes and conducting Assessments such as ADOS.
• Work in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters.
• Work experience/ placement experience of working with young people on a neurodevelopmental pathway.
• Experience of working in a specialist school.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

• Knowledge of current developments in Neurodevelopmental disorders. Ability to develop and maintain specialist knowledge of clinical aspects of child and adolescent mental health.
• Knowledge, understanding and experience with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivation
• A broad appreciation of the contribution of other therapeutic disciplines to a multi-agency service
• Experience, skills and ability to liaise effectively with other agencies and professionals
• Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to young people and their families.
• Knowledge of The Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and associated legislation
• A working knowledge of Child Protection Guidelines
• Evidence of well-developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS
• Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities
• Acquaintance with parenting literature
• Knowledge of current development in CAMHS
• Able to manage own time and caseload
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Teaching skills, both in clinical setting and education centres
• Basic computer skills
