Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Mental Health Support Team in Schools and Neurodevelopmental Team
Band 7 - Full Time
Permanent
City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to the role of Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. This exciting post is based across Specialist CAMHS in the Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT), and Mental Health Support in Schools Team (MHST).
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting community-based post, based across Specialist CAMHS, Well-being and Mental Health in Schools Service and the Mental Health Support in Schools Team (MHST).
For 2 days a week the post-holder will be based in the Mental Health Support in School Team (MHST). The MHST is part of an exciting programme funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. MHST is an arm of City & Hackney's Well-being and Mental Health in Schools Service (WAMHS). WAMHS has a particular focus on whole school approaches to mental health and well-being through the provision of staff training, reflective practice and consultation. MHST builds on this by developing more access to help by providing workers who can deliver direct interventions and helping to improve the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRU's. This role will include providing supervision and line management to Band 4 and 5 Education Mental Health Practitioners, trained in guided self-help approaches. It will also involve projects and system change with the aim of whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health.
About us
Complimenting their work for WAMHS and MHST the post-holder will have 3 days in Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT), Tier 3 Specialist CAMHS. NDT provides assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ADHD and ASD) for young people without moderate-severe intellectual disability, and intervention where there is a co-existing mental health presentation. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
One day a week of NDT time will involve working with an allocated secondary school in City & Hackney. This role aims to develop and sustain closer working links between CAMHS and education by providing training, consultation and support, signposting and liaison, especially regarding neurodevelopmental conditions.
