Job summary
To lead on the delivery of Podiatry services and therapeutic footwear assessment; measuring and fitting to children & adults with congenital foot health problems.
The post holder will co-ordinate and provide paediatric & adult therapeutic footwear podiatry services at our main community site. S/he will be responsible for work and liaison with other health care professionals to promote children & adults foot health.
The post holder will be able to show evidence from a Higher Education Insitute (HEI) of Specialist Therapeutic Footwear qualification including Ankle Foot Orthoses / Footwear combination management.
This will include - previous study and training showing clinical proficiency in therapeutic footwear assessment; measuring and fitting to children & adults with congenital foot health problems and deformity.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have the responsibility of developing clinical standards and protocols of foot care and footwear prescribing in line with commissioning and service needs, and in consultation with professionals from other disciplines to support the provision of holistic care.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating clinics and incorporating new treatment methods into the management of paediatric & adult therapeutic footwear & foot care.
S/he will be responsible for coordinating the care of qualifying service users in the Foot Health Department at Mile End Hospital. Liaising and working in collaboration with Specialist Consultants and other healthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary environment and working across the disciplines of Foot Health and Footwear.
The post holder will be the lead clinician for Safeguarding Children in the Foot Health Department and Footwear Service.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality clinical care to patients in both in-patient and outpatient environments, both as an autonomous clinician and as part of a team approach. S/he will be expected to work flexibly in a number of clinical and non-clinical environments and liaise with clinical colleagues and other professions e.g. safeguarding leads; social workers; Child Protection Nurses.
