Job summary

FIXED TERM 12 MONTHS

The NHS Long-Term Plan requires smoking cessation to be provided for all inpatients, including in mental health inpatient settings. ELFT has been identified as an Early Implementation Site for implementing the Ottawa Model of smoking cessation support in mental health inpatient settings and for six week post discharge community follow up .

Main duties of the job

Elft are now recruiting new Smoking advisors for both inpatients and post discharge for six weeks working wth CMHTS

This is an exciting time to be involved in helping service users to reduce their dependence on Tobacco and reducing harm and encourage embracing Healthy life style options.

Further to this Elft have are also working towards another National pilot to work at embedded the lessons learnt to support service users with SMI in the community.

We are looking for key staff with experience of engaging and applying level 2/3 smoking Training evidence to facilitate service users to have smoke free outcomes .

Essential

  • UK university degree level or equivalent
  • Post graduate diploma level or equivalent
  • Level 2/3 (Practitioner) smoking cessation competencies plus mental health module

Experience

Essential

  • Teaching and Training experience. Experience of managing staff and budgets

Desirable

  • Experience of working with mental health service users
  • Experience of successfully using behavioural change and health coaching

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Relevant skills to enable teaching, coaching skills, clinical supervision and mentoring of colleagues.
  • Adaptable teaching skills in relation to patients, carers and colleagues
  • Develops written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation and across the wider public health care system of population health.
  • Ability to build links with the local public health department/s to develop service provision.
