Job summary
The post holder has a key leadership and management role at a senior level, and will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the organisation and delivery of care for patients within the Endoscopy Unit. This will incorporate the provision of care to patients and their families in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the area, ensuring that Trust values and beliefs are upheld. The Endoscopy Unit Manager has a fundamental role in the delivery of high standards of nursing care, ensuring an environment that is conducive to well being and contributing to effective budgetary management. The post holder must ensure the Endoscopy Service is managed to JAG standards.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the day-to-day management of the Endoscopy Unit
Co-ordinate staff across the clinical/administrative areas covered by the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring appropriate skill mix and availability of equipment
Provide professional and specialist advice on the provision of Nursing care within the stated Trust philosophy.
Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performance appraisal/review.
Ensure that optimum care and treatment is maintained, utilising all resources effectively and efficiently.
Create and maintain an environment conducive to education, teaching, audit and training for patients and staff.
Promote and demonstrate innovative practice and implement change as required.
Take charge of the unit on each shift worked.
Liaise with medical staff and plan patient care pathway
Manage inpatient bookings and prioritise in line with protocols
Management and deployment of staff to patient care needs and ensure supervision of same.
Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care without direct supervision in all areas of the department (Pre Assessment, Admissions, Endoscopy Rooms and Recovery)
