Job summary
The post holder will be an experienced midwife who is a high profile, accessible and responsive leader able to provide effective leadership skills, clinical expertise and advice to the Antenatal Team. They will be expected to ensure the provision of a high quality service to women and their families in line with best practice, local, regional and national guidance. They will be an exemplary role model for all staff, leading by example and empowering staff to constantly develop and improve patient care.
The post holder will be expected to:
o Ensure the safe, efficient and effective management of the service within allocated resources.
oTake responsibility for risk management in relation to antenatal issues.
o Act as a role model and expert practitioner, developing midwifery led services and promoting personalised patient centred care.
o Provide 24 hour operational responsibility and accountability for area of clinical responsibility.
o Provide managerial and professional support to the maternity service and undertake delegated responsibility for the Maternity Matron in her absence.
o Deal with many competing demands for attention and be expected to exercise excellent judgement in dealing with both clinical and managerial challenges.
oWill partake in the Maternity Manager of the Day (MOD) rota, covering occasional weekend shifts.

Main duties of the job
Provide management and leadership for Antenatal Clinic , and where required support management of the service out of hours, including covering the MOD rota.
Will champion inclusive, equitable, and person-centred care, ensuring that all women and birthing people receive high-quality support tailored to their individual needs, while fostering a workplace culture that upholds the principles of equality, diversity, and fairness for both service users and staff.
To confidently escalate in a timely manner concerns about patient safety, quality and experience, offering solutions and evidence-based recommendations.
To contribute to a culture that recognises and works in partnership with patients and their families, involving them in all decisions
Ensuring that clear communication and ensuring that personalised care is given to all families regardless of their personal/medical needs and that they are not at a disadvantage through their choice of birth.
Provide specialist knowledge and clinical support to all team(s) in relation to all aspects of maternity services provision.
Manage complaints relating to antenatal services; providing action plans to improve practice as required, support implementation and review progress in response to complaints.
