Job summary

We are looking for a enthusiasticRadiologist with sub specialist interest in Gastro-intestinal (GI) imaging to support local services in line with current strategic priorities. There is a need to continue to develop links and closely support the Surgical and Gastrointestinal Consultants.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join our Consultant GI Radiologists to deliver the diagnostic aspects of the service. To be responsive to demand and service needs.

Responsibility for Patient Care

  • To ensure a high quality patient focussed professional service is delivered at all times.
  • To be responsible for and ensure the care and comfort of the patient whilst in the department and during the examination.
Planning and organising

To be organised and focused on the tasks allocated within the job plan.

To be responsive and flexible to the departments needs.

To ensure timely attendance to booked lists or reporting sessions.

Responsibilities for Physical and / or Financial Resources

To ensure that the equipment supplied is treated with care and respect.

To ensure that time is utilised in accordance to Job Plan principles.

Any additional work is appropriate and claimed in line with departmental policy.

Responsibility for Policy and Service Development and Implementation
  • To conform to safety regulations by wearing protective equipment provided as appropriate, in the event of splashes/spillages of chemical/body fluids.
  • Do not attempt to undertake any roles or tasks outside of or beyond your competence
  • Report any untoward incidences or accidents using the DATIX incident reporting system.
  • To be aware of and comply with systems of work, local rules and policies and procedures in accordance with current ionising radiation regulations (IR(ME)R & IRR), ensuring the highest standards of radiation protection for staff, patients and visitors.
  • To be aware of the responsibilities for safety of themselves, patients and others in accordance with fire, health and safety and COSHH regulations to ensure that safe working practices are carried out at all times.
  • To ensure the Data Protection Act is adhered to, breach of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action.

The Trust has a positive attitude towards and encourages participation of its consultants in continuing professional development, to which the Trust provides time and funding. The appointee is expected to participate in CPD and fulfil College requirements.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
