Benign Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

The post holder will assist in the delivery of high quality benign tumour services within the trust. Working alongside other clinical colleagues to provide expert care, treatment and support for this patient group. The post holder will contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit as well as developing practice. They will play a key role within the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, coordinated and timely approach to care.

Main duties of the job

  • In conjunction with the Head Nurse and clinical team will deliver the modernisation agenda within their clinical setting.
  • Lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff, taking responsibility for own professional development
  • Provide leadership that promotes patient focused care.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of Benign Urology care and conditions, education and training for patients and staff.
  • Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff if appropriate, ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performance appraisal/review.
  • Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour, which are consistent with Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and requirements

the standard operating procedures and/or patient group directions

  • Administer when appropriate intravesical immunotherapy and chemotherapy,

including patient education for intermittent self-catheterisation and self-administration of treatment.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
