An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated individual to join our UGI cancer team as a Pathway Navigator. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering earlier cancer pathways by ensuring a coordinated and smooth service for patients through their pathway.
We are keen to hear from individuals who have the necessary drive and motivation to support service delivery.
Main duties of the job
The Cancer Pathway Navigator role will be involved from the beginning of the patient's pathway and will support the clinical team in implementing early diagnostic pathways for patients with suspected cancer to achieve definitive diagnosis by day 28. They will ensure all patients move through the pathway without delay which will ultimately lead to a quicker diagnosis and treatment.

They will also have excellent communication skills to liaise with a wide range of health professionals to ensure tests and appointments are coordinated and scheduled in a timely manner and patients are kept informed at all times.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of cancer targets and patient pathways. It is desirable that they have previous NHS experience in a patient facing role, a good level of education, experience of using Cancer Waiting Times systems, clinical IT systems and are competent in Microsoft Office packages. We are looking for enthusiastic and conscientious team players with excellent time-management and organisational skills who can work autonomously and well under pressure.
