Job summary
We are looking to appoint a highly enthusiastic individual, educated to degree level or above in microbiology or a closely related subject. It is essential to have a broad knowledge of environmental microbiological techniques and specifically in relation to Pharmaceutical microbiology, along with experience of cleanroom monitoring . The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving skills and will be able to show initiative.
Quality Control North West is part of Stockport Foundation Trust and is an NHS regional specialty department responsible for providing pharmaceutical quality control services to NHS and non-NHS clients. The laboratories at Stockport are well equipped and advanced in analytical instrumentation and are accredited to ISO 17025 by UKAS.
Main duties of the job
To practice as Microbiology Analyst in the interest of the departmental commitment to provide an efficient service.
To perform investigations in the Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring section of the Quality Control North West laboratory by conducting a range of appropriate scientific tests.
To supervise Microbiology Technical Officers and Laboratory Assistants in the performance of tests according to established protocols.
To approve and communicate results from Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring, to users of the QCNW service.
To ensure the work of the Microbiology section embraces Good Laboratory Practice and adequate Health and Safety Standards.
