Job summary
We are looking for a proactive individual to join the trauma coordinator team as a Health Care assistant. The role is for set shifts of Monday to Friday working 7am - 12pm.
Please be aware that we are not able to provide any altered shifts to this or sponsorship at this time.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to undertake a wide range of tasks to assist with the efficient management of pre operative trauma patients eg phlebotomy and recording of ECG's. Also responsible for making all fracture clinic appointments from VFC (Virtual Fracture Clinic), General Trauma and Orthopaedic On Call, GP referrals and Buxton Referrals. They will be required to undertake training to enable them to be competent within the duties of this post.

Clinical
- Perform and request Pre operative bloods and ECGs
- Charting blood results on pre op investigation form and reporting any abnormalities
- Requesting XM blood as per guidelines for patients listed for theatr
Clerical
- Monthly stationary orders
- Weekly photocoping
- Making fracture clinic appointments from Trauma Board on Bluespier
- Tracking notes in and out
- Chasing scan times CT / MRI / USS / Bonescan
- Chasing ECHO times
- TNT generic email account check at least twice per shift and action accordingly
- Book day case beds on D6 by email
- Update diary slips when beds confirmed
- Filing clinic letters in medical notes
- General filing
- Requesting old notes
- Phoning GP surgeries for additional information
- Distribution of daily trauma theatre lists to orthopaedic wards
- Taking notes for following days admission to D6
- Charting blood results taken in clinic
- Charting MRSA results taken in clinic
- Booking Interpreter as required
- Requesting clinical information from other trusts eg Pacemaker, ECHOs, operation notes etc
- Print off ECHO / 24hr ECG reports from PRISM
- Management of VFC (Virtual Fracture Clinic) making all fracture clinic appointments, liaise with GP surgeries and Orthopaedic Consultants and documenting in patients notes on Bluespier
- Management of VFC email account answering all email enquires
- Management of VFC telephone and answerphone
- Scan Buxton Minor Injuries Unit referrals onto EVOLVE and put on Bluespier and email PACS to ensure Xrays are uploaded to our PACS system
- Print all GP referrals from fractureclinicreferrals@stockport.nhs.uk , make necessary fracture clinic appointment once referral is triaged by Orthopaedic Consultant on call and scan referral onto EVOLVE
- # NOF patients calculate time to theatre as per NHFD guidelines theatre within 36hrs of admission
Communications
- Contribute to the effective communication process between patients, carers, family, and staff colleagues.
- Display effective communication skills with all levels of healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrate ability to deal with complaints as per trust policy
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas to the team.
- Management of team and personal email accounts and check regularly every day
