Job summary

Outpatient Suites are unique places to work and full of opportunity for registered nurses! This band 5 RGN role will provide the right candidate opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge associated with team leadership and service planning as well as a wide range of clinical skills, in medical and surgical specialties.

Team working in OPD is at the heart of all we do. As a registered practitioner you will work alongside registered and unregistered staff all of whom are competent, committed and proud to deliver an excellent standard of care to our service users. As one of a small team of registered staff in outpatients, you will take a leading role in the management and delivery of outpatient services on day to day basis.

The role will include organising resources, problem solving and communicating with the team and with service users to ensure services are delivered effectively and efficiently. Our goal is to exceed the expectations of service users!

Main duties of the job

We can offer candidates the opportunity to rotate through a number of outpatient and day case services, to support development of practical skills and knowledge in a range of specialties such as (for example) Gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology, ENT, trauma and Orthopaedics, Rheumatology. A bespoke plan of practical training and development will be developed to support the successful candidate to achieve their full potential in terms of clinical and leadership capability.

You will be supported by a dynamic band 7 Manager, and experienced energetic band 6 Deputy Managers.

At this time, we are looking for individuals with acute NHS hospital or hospital-based clinic experience, with a strong desire to enhance and develop their leadership and management skills. We can accommodate full or part time working. Shift patterns are predominantly between 8am and 7pm with some evening and weekend working. It is possible in the future that, in order to meet the needs of our community, the volume of weekend and evening work may increase and clinics may be held in locations off the main Stepping Hill Hospital site; the need for flexibility is therefore a requirement of this role.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
