Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Integrated Tissue Viability Service which covers Stepping Hill hospital and Stockport Community Services. The role will include providing advice and management for patients with wounds in all clinical settings to which the Tissue Viability team provide a service.
This post is a temporary 12 month contract to cover maternity leave. This post will offer an excellent opportunity to develop skills within the speciality of Tissue Viability. Support and training will be provided to consolidate existing wound care skills and to develop new and wider skills within the field of Tissue Viability.
You need to have a keen interest in the management of wounds, including leg ulcers and lower limb conditions. You must be enthusiastic, flexible and well-motivated with a proven track record of delivering high quality nursing care. In addition, you must possess excellent communication and assessment skills, and be able to prioritise and plan your own workload.
You may be required to provide teaching and educational support to clinical colleagues to support evidence based practice to ensure positive outcomes for wound prevention and healing.
Main duties of the job
Assess, plan and evaluate nursing care for patients with non-complex wounds, lower limb wounds or follow up review for patients with complex wounds. Implement and amend plans without direct supervision but reporting back to senior members of the tissue viability team if any concerns are identified.
Develop wider tissue viability wound management knowledge in order to support the Tissue Viability Team.
Assessing patients with wounds in the hospital/community/leg ulcer clinics and supporting nursing homes, district nurses and acute nurses in the care of their patients
Undertake specialist wound therapies such as negative pressure wound therapy, application of larval therapy and application of all types of compression therapies as required.
Support the Leg Ulcer Clinic Coordinator in the triage, appointment, and administration of the leg ulcer clinic service.
