Job summary

We are looking to recruit a hard working, enthusiastic and friendly person to support the in-patient pharmacy team with dispensing medication for in patients, self-meds and discharges, telephone queries , reception duties , prescription tracking, expiry date checking and delivery of urgent items to ward areas.

This friendly and innovative pharmacy is always developing and expanding so we need somebody who is a good team player and is an excellent communicator.

Main duties of the job

We require a dependable, hard working and efficient motivated person to assist the inpatient pharmacy team for the supply of medicines throughout the hospital.

The role involves telephone queries, round robin portering , recycling ,ward top up service ,stock control and rotation . Training will be given in specialist areas

There is an opportunity to complete a Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Service Skills.

You must possess good communication skills, and be flexible, committed and be a good team player.

To ensure that all work is carried out in a planned and organised manner and when necessary assists other members of the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities for Physical and / or Financial Resources

Accurately issues non-stock medicines to wards, departments, peripheral hospitals, outside agencies and clinics. Occasionally may be required to issue stock items.

Accurately dispense discharges, leave prescriptions and self-med prescriptions.

To assist replenishing stock on wards and departments to an agreed level (topping up) if required.

Check that medicines are being stored correctly in the wards and departments and do not exceed their expiry date.

Assist in putting and replenishing stock on pharmacy shelves, maintaining good stock rotation.

Responsibility for Policy and Service Development and Implementation

To follow all policies and procedures provided by the department and the Trust Promotes further development of the service by constructively commenting to line manager any changes/issues within procedures

To embrace and support line management and the department in making service improvements effective within the work place.

Hand Hygiene

To assist the Trust in reducing healthcare acquired infections (HCAIs) all staff should be familiar with all the Trusts Infection Prevention policies which are appropriate to their role. You are required to attend mandatory training in Infection Prevention and be compliant with all measures known to be effective in reducing HCAIs

Safeguarding

All Stockport Foundation Trust employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards and promotes the health and well-being of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Familiarisation with and adherence to the policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults are adhered to. Data Protection, Confidentiality and Information Governance

The post holder must abide by all relevant Trust and departmental policies including information governance, confidentiality and data protection and, undertake the annual data security awareness mandatory training. The post holder is reminded that any breach of the Trusts information governance and security policies and procedures, including data protection legislation, will result in disciplinary action.

Data Protection Legislation the post holder is required to process all personal data relating to patients and staff, whether in paper, electronic or other media, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), ensuring the security and confidentiality of data at all times.
