The Children's Therapy Service has an exciting opportunity for a specialist band 7 Physiotherapist to join our Community Children's Physiotherapy team. The post is 30 hours part-time, other hours will be considered.
The post holder will support children and young people with complex needs, providing input into Special schools , clinics and homes across Stockport .
The role will also involve responsibility for supervision of designated staff and students.
Job Summary:
We would like to recruit a Physiotherapist who is experienced in paediatrics and has extensive knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions and postural care.
You will be the named clinical lead for children with complex needs, devising and implementing appropriate clinical guidelines and patient pathways associated with this area.
You will be part of multidisciplinary and multi- agency teams delivering highly specialist interventions according to the agreed service pathways.
The role involves liaison with health, education and social services, working in partnership with primary carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
To provide a specialist service to children in a variety of settings across Stockport including their own homes, Special Schools and clinics for children with a range of complex special needs as required
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To work as part of multidisciplinary and multiagency teams to deliver highly specialist interventions according to the agreed service pathways.
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with parents/ carers and other stakeholders, using highly developed negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
To maintain, develop and promote excellence in clinical practice within the specialist area of the service, with reference to current research and evidence-based practice, contributing to safe effective practice in the specialist area.
Demonstrate clinical leadership and represent the local team/service area in all appropriate meetings to support the planning and development of quality services across Stockport.
To perform advanced therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To be responsible for your own caseload and a defined area of the service, and provide support/supervision/training to colleagues working in your specialist area.
Supervise, educate and assess the performance of Students in conjunction with universities.
Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical team leader for changes to practice. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service guidelines.
