PART TIME POST 25.5 HOURS A WEEK
Assist patients/service users/carers/relatives during incidental contacts.
Assist the Ward Manager in supporting & contributing to agreed developments within the Business Group. Ensure the efficient use of ward resources e.g. bank staff. Contribute to the STARs programme as required.
Manage the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager coordinating the activities of the team & deploying resources effectively.
Co-ordinate care to ensure a seamless & timely pathway of care for patients.
Main duties of the job
Ward D8 is a surgical and urology ward within Stepping Hill Hospital providing emergency access for general surgical and urology patients referred from consultant's clinics, GPs, the Urology Clinic and Emergency Department.
The ward provides same day emergency care for patient and also comprises of overnight stay for 18 patients.

You will be an experienced staff nurse looking for a challenge in order to progress your career in nursing. You will demonstrate excellent knowledge & previous experience of caring for surgical/urology patients as well as processing excellent leadership skills. You will be working collaboratively with other MDT members. You will be confident in working under your own initiative & able to prioritise your clinical care & work load accordingly.
You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership & management skills with the support from the ward manager & ward matron. You will receive a full induction/support for any relevant training to become a competent junior sister/charge nurse.
