An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join Ward D7 an Acute General Surgical & Urology Ward.
Ward D7 is a 28 bedded ward, looking after both male and female patients. We are a fast-paced ward that offers a wide variety of challenges and learning opportunities. The successful applicant will be well supported within this dynamic team, and have the chance to build many clinical nursing competencies such as Stoma / Nephrostomy / Urostomy care, Cannulation, Catheterisation, NG insertion, and the management of acute emergencies. The prospective candidate will also be able to gain valuable experience in advanced communication, palliative care, care of patient with central venous access and rapid discharges. The post holder will be expected to work within our dedicated multidisciplinary team and be fully involved in an individual's care from admission to discharge, maintaining and improving current standards and supporting the team in meeting the required targets both at local and national level.
Main duties of the job
- Assess individial care needs and develop, implement and evaluate without supervision.
- Checking symptoms and vital signs and arranging diagnostic tests.
- Displaying excellent analytical ability and sound decision making in changing clinical situations.
- Working as an effective team member and promoting team and interdisciplinary relationships.
- To keep up to date with skills and knowledge.This exciting opportunity will be permanent and involve flexibility in shift work. You will work closely with the manager in helping the team to provide excellent patient care whilst adhering to Trust policy and values.
