Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Obstetrician with an interest in High Risk Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine.

This replacement post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 core programmed activities (PAs) including a 1 in 13 Obstetrics on call commitment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join an established multidisciplinary team with arange of gynaecology and obstetrics specialist skills and experience,including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, recurrent miscarriage, fertilityservices, endometriosis, urogynaecology, antenatal clinics fordiabetes, perinatal mental health, multiple pregnancy, pretermdelivery, bereavement, day assessment, post-natal care, fetalmedicine. The post holder will strengthen the maternal medicine andhigh risk obstetrics services.

- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification

- MD or Ph.D./ Postgraduate academic degree
Previous Experience
Essential
- Broad Obstetrics experience including maternal medicine
- ATSM, Contingent SITM or equivalent in advanced labour ward practice
- Other ATSMs or specialist training that supports the departmental needs
- Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
Desirable
- Experience in Obstetric ultrasound scanning or fetal medicine
- Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of audit, evidencebased practice, and clinical quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrable experience and participation in research
