Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Anglo-Dutch Hand Fellow position for 12 months. TheHand Fellow post is ideal for Plastics Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery Senior trainees who wish tofurther develop their subspecialty experience in the field of Hand and Wrist Surgery. The post hasarisen due to the successful collaboration between the Lister Hand Unit and the Hand unit of theUniversity Medical Centre (UMC) Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the Consultant Hand Surgeons and will be exposed to the fullspectrum of elective and emergency hand and wrist surgery at the Trust. They will be encouraged toparticipate in the research, audit, service improvement and teaching activity within the Hand SurgeryDepartment and expected to complete and publish a minimum of 1 research publication, by the end oftheir tenure.
The Fellow will also be expected to undertake the BSSH Diploma in Hand Surgery, and/or the EuropeanBoard of Hand Surgery Diploma Examinations. This will be encouraged and supported by supervisionfrom the Consultant staff and their assigned Educational Supervisor. The lead Consultant Supervisoris a BSSH-approved Diploma Supervisor and Tutor.
With experience there will be opportunities to undertake certain unsupervised operating lists and clinics.The Fellow will be the key member of the Trauma pathway, responsible for facilitating daily Traumalists as a Trauma coordinator.
