Theatre Practitioners - Scrub & Recovery

Job summary

We are recruiting for Registered Practitioners in Theatreswho share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Our service now includes admission and recovery of elective patients and a continued emergency service for the Trust. Our team works 24/7, 365 days a year. As part of a rotation with other team members, you'll be expected to work evenings, nights, on calls, Bank Holidays and weekends.

We have roles within Theatres, in Scrub & PACU and there is an expectation to be rotated across all theatre areas to assist and care for patients undergoing a variety of elective (Vascular, Orthopaedics, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynae, Plastics, Robotics, ENT and General Surgery) and Emergency procedures.

Main duties of the job

You will receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedure.

You will be responsible for preparing the Theatre for surgery and preparing sterile equipment/ supplies and keep waste to a minimum.

Responsible for preparation, safe use, decontamination, troubleshooting and reporting of faulty complex equipment.

Admit and discharge theatre patients, care for patients post operatively.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety and comfort of patients

Work in any of the Theatre areas according to service needs, regardless of which theatre department they are based in including QE2 site, although it is anticipated that staff do permanently work in the department they are employed to be based in.

Participation in on- calls and out of hours working is needed by all staff, regardless of the department they are based in, to provide emergency access to our most acutely ill patients.
