We are recruiting for an Estates Team Leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will provide technical support and advise for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric and utility services for East and North Herts NHS Trust.
You will lead a team of skilled craft and semi-skilled staff and take the day-to-day supervisory management responsibility for the team and estates contractors.

Main duties of the job
To provide and receive complex information requiring tact or persuasive skills; provide and receive complex or sensitive information.
To be able to work to a range of work procedures and practices majority non-routine.
Plan and organise complex activities or programmes requiring formulation, adjustment Plans maintenance and upgrading programmes, plans and adjusts staffing levels.
To lead with the day-to-day management of maintenance staff and contractors
Understand the working, layout and operation of Healthcare Building Services
To quality check a proportion of completed jobs on a regular basis and to liaise with customers to ensure customer satisfaction with service.
Must be responsible for ordering engineering spares, materials and equipment needed to undertake the works.
To provide estimates and quotes for minor engineering and building works
To maintain personnel records of staff and to include annual leave requests and absence and lateness monitoring.
To be willing learn new techniques and undertake training.
To complete data entry
To undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work Completes e.g., staff surveys.
To work within broad occupational parameters, manages areas of maintenance work.
Carry out frequent light effort for several short periods; occasional/ frequent moderate effort several short periods Climbing, lifting equipment.

Essential
- You will be a qualified craftsperson
- Must possess evidence of completing an approved Trade Apprenticeship
- Qualified to City and Guilds Level 3 and or Maintenance NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Understanding and evidence of current Health and Safety legislation training relating to areas of work
Desirable
- In possession of relevant HNC, HND or equivalent
Previous Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in healthcare building maintenance environment or equivalent service environment
- Must be an effective communicator and able to maintain standards
- Have good customer skills, able to prioritise and programme work
- Experience of managing teams and shift patterns - preferably in a Healthcare environment
Desirable
- Experienced in fault finding
- Experience of maintaining or installing systems commensurate with the relevant trade experience
- Previous line supervisory experience, including appraisals and recruitment
- Able to work across trade boundaries and provide flexible working attitudes
Skills

- Thorough all round knowledge of Electrical /mechanical building services, especially HVAC pressure systems
- Skills to carry out multi-discipline tasks associated with the building industry
- Computer literate, with knowledge of various software applications ie Access, Excel, word
- Able to use appropriate tools and test equipment
- Willingness to travel to various location
- Undertake further training as and when required
