Job summary
We are recruiting for a Finance Apprentice who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our team, with a willingness to study towards professional finance & accountancy qualifications, and who wishes to pursue a career in NHS finance. You should have good communication skills and some IT knowledge (particularly Excel), but training can be provided in these if needed.
This role will allow you to study towards a level 3 AAT qualification through the apprenticeship scheme and work alongside experienced finance colleagues; many of whom have also successfully navigated through the apprenticeship programme. You will attend college 1 day a week on release from work and work the remaining 4 days of the week.
Management accounts is one part of the finance department at the trust, with the others including financial accounts (accounts receivable and payable) and patient income & contracting.
Within the department we have a very good track record when developing apprentices, with many going onto have careers within the department upon completion. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is a strong possibility that a permanent role can be offered to the right individual.

Main duties of the job
In the role, you will predominantly work with the management accounts reporting team, who are responsible for accurately reporting the trusts finances to internal and external stakeholders including the Director of Finance. The team are routinely involved in producing financial reports, analysis, forecasting, budget setting and other adhoc tasks to support the wider finance teams and non-financial colleagues.
This work is carried out on various computer applications such as Excel, Oracle, Qlikview and the trusts employee and payroll system ESR, and a large proportion of your time will be spent using these applications.
