We are recruiting for a Senior Diabetes Specialist Nursewho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The East and North Herts Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (ENHIDE) are one of the largest Diabetes Specialist Teams within a District General Hospital in the UK providing high standards of care across three sites. The Diabetes Specialist Team provides inpatient cover 7 days per week. This service is delivered on a rotational basis with Diabetes consultant on-call support.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our forward thinking and dynamic diabetes team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone already within the specialty to extend their current expertise.

Main duties of the job

Working as an integral member of the team, the role is divided between diabetes outpatient and in-patient care. Our caseload consists of patients living with Type 1 Diabetes and complex Type 2 Diabetes, experience of Diabetes technology is essential to this role. Candidates should possess excellent communication, clinical and motivational skills and will act as an educational resource for doctors, nurses and patients. You will be working in secondary care, providing expert complex-case management and supporting people with diabetes in the acute multidisciplinary setting.

The delivery of structured teaching and training to both health care professionals and people with diabetes have a team based approach and are a core part of the specialist service. You will work closely with the Trust's education team as well as Diabetes Specialist colleagues to lead on the implementation of Trust wide staff education in diabetes care and related patient safety.

Clinical supervision will be provided within the current expert nursing team.

The post holder will be required to work across Trust sites and contribute to the 7 day working Rota therefore; you must be able to travel between sites.
