Cardiology at Lister Hospital is a busy and constantly developing department. We have a 22 bedded Acute Cardiac Unit, 2 catheter labs with an 8 chair radial lounge and 4 day case beds attached and a strong team of Cardiac Specialist Nurses undertaking same day emergency care, nurse led clinics for patients with Heart Failure, Rapid Access Chest Pain/heart failure clinic, Post MI/PCI clinics, Pre cardioversion assessment clinics, nurse led cardioversion lists, nurse led ILR implant lists and a well-developed cardiac rehabilitation programme.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, experienced Lead Nurse for Cardiology. This is a rarely available opportunity to combine clinical work with management and to influence patient and staff pathways. You should ideally have a strong background in acute cardiology nursing, a desire to ensure that patients receive the best care and staff can develop their knowledge and skills in a fast moving department.

Main duties of the job
You should have experience of undertaking nurse led clinics in your area of expertise. You will also line manage the Acute Cardiac Unit, Cardiac Suite and Cardiac Specialist Nurses, working with the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing and Quality to ensure business cases are developed in order to deliver new ways of working and meeting the needs of our patients. You will also work with external organisations eg CCG and palliative care providers to ensure seamless care for patients.
You will manage and lead a specialist service with responsibility for ensuring high quality, cost-effective healthcare. Manage and lead a workforce of specialist nurses and ward managers. (ie across a Division).
They will be responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis implementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills. They will also be involved in the strategic review of clinical services as appropriate.
You will also be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care.
