Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Specialist doctor to join our expanding skin surgery service. Applications welcome from dermatology or plastic surgery doctors with sufficient years experience in dermatological surgery. The successful candidate will deliver high quality skin cancer surgery including complex excisions and reconstruction and contribution to skin cancer MDTs and junior doctor teaching. This is fixed term 5PA post for 12 months initially.
The successful candidate will join an established team of 21 Consultants. There is support from 1 Associate Specialist, 4 Specialty doctors and specialist dermatology nurses including 2 skin cancer specialist nurses and 2 paediatric specialist dermatology nurses.
The department also has 2 SPRs, 2 clinical fellows and 1 VTS trainee. Services available include day case surgery, paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, patch testing and iontophoresis.
Specialist clinics include joint Leg Ulcer, Vulval and Male Genital Dermatoses, hair and skin of colour. We have an outreach Plastic Surgery service from the Royal Free Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work with colleagues to support and develop Dermatology services for the local population.
You will be based mainly at Watford General Hospital but may also be asked to work at St Albans City or Hemel Hempstead Hospitals.
The main duties of the post will be surgical lists requiring complex surgery including grafts and flaps and attendance at our skin cancer MDT meetings.
